News & Events - Students to gain valuable experience with internship at Frazer-Nash

Two South Australian university students have secured summer internships at Frazer-Nash Consultancy's Adelaide office, where they will have the opportunity to experience working on real-world projects alongside top-level engineers.

Students Lisa Neldner and Ross Anderson, from the University of Adelaide, will be working at Frazer-Nash from November 2015 through to February 2016. Lisa is studying for a double Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Aerospace) and Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, while Ross is undertaking a BEng(Hons) Mechanical and Sustainable Energy Engineering degree.

Lisa has been awarded a grant by the South Australian Department of State Development, as part of the second round of its Defence and STEM Internship Program. This grant, provided to both the student and employer to help offset costs, enables students to gain valuable industry experience through structured work placements with local companies, giving them a head start on their careers in the defence, science and technology sectors.

Lisa said: "I'm excited to be part of this internship program, as it will help me gain a valuable understanding of real-world engineering situations. It's great to have the chance to work with experienced people in the industry and apply the skills and knowledge I've gained at university."

Dr Janet Wilson leads Frazer-Nash's advanced analysis team in Adelaide, and will be mentoring Lisa throughout her placement. Dr Wilson said: "It's been great to engage with a number of talented local students as part of our recruitment activities for this year's internship program, and to see them excited at the prospect of being involved in challenging projects that will address real issues for our clients.

"Lisa stood out as a highly capable young engineer, and I'm looking forward to working with her over the summer."

Ross will be working in the Systems Engineering team, with a focus on concept and requirements development during his placement.
