News & Events-Rob Hayes to speak at PACIFIC 2017

Frazer-Nash Naval Architect, Rob Hayes, will be speaking at the International Maritime Conference, part of Pacific 2017 in Sydney on Tuesday 3 October at 4.00pm.

Rob will be presenting on "Optimising High Speed Craft for Hybrid Propulsion", as part of the event's Ship Propulsion stream.

Commenting in his paper, Rob said:

"Hybrid technology has made large advances in maturity in the maritime field in the last few years. My paper explores the lessons learned over this period and how hybrid propulsion for small craft can become strategically important in the maritime domain in the coming years.

"Operational requirements and flexibility of small boats used by defence are pushing what is achievable through combustion engines alone. With increased emphasis on attributes such as stealth, performance and environmental impact, and subsequently these being key requirements of future small boat platforms, the use of hybrid and innovative propulsion technologies will be essential in enabling vessels to operate effectively."

The biennial Pacific International Maritime Exposition, will be held in Sydney from Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 October 2017.

As the only comprehensive international exhibition of its kind in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, PACIFIC 2017 will provide the essential showcase for commercial maritime and naval defence industries to promote their capabilities to decision-makers from around the world
