News & Events-Experts to present on RiBFAT and overhead conductors at AMPEAK 2017

Frazer-Nash Consultancy experts, Dr Stephen Webb and Dr Kieran Chalk, are to present papers at the Asset Management Council International Conference, AMPEAK 2017.

Stephen's presentation, titled 'Risk Based Flow Assurance Toolkit', will be delivered on 3 April from 11.30am until 12.00pm, as part of Session 1C, Managing Risk. Stephen says:

"My presentation will discuss a collaborative project, initiated through ITF Energy and undertaken by Frazer-Nash and two oil and gas majors, to produce a risk-based flow assurance toolkit (RiBFAT). RiBFAT is an approach that helps flow assurance engineers in their risk assessments, aiming to improve investment decisions and enable flow assurance risk to be managed throughout the asset life cycle. The project included the development of a software tool which supports risk and cost aggregation, provides an archive of previous assessments, and creates parametric models based on system and fluid conditions."

Kieran's paper, to be presented on 3 April from 4pm to 4.30pm, forms part of the conference's Session 3B, on Power and Energy. Titled 'An Innovative Approach to Overhead Conductor Management', Kieran will describe his work in developing asset management tools to help improve Western Power's predictive maintenance capability for its Distribution Overhead Conductor fleet. Kieran says:

"Western Power embarked on an initiative to better understand the condition of its extensive Distribution Overhead Conductor fleet. Managing these assets presents quite a challenge, with conductors of different ages and material types exposed to a variety of different environments. Improving its predictive maintenance capabilities could ultimately reduce the company's costs across the asset life cycle.

"I'll be describing how Western Power undertook sampling of the conductors to help inform its strategy on prudent renewal and maintenance, its key findings, and how it refined its strategy."

AMPEAK 2017 will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2 to 5 April, and will include a range of exhibits, case studies and technical content that present an industry-wide view of asset management. For more details, visit the conference website.
