News & Events-Experts from Frazer-Nash are speaking at Australasian Oil and Gas 2014

On Thursday 20 February, leading experts Dr Steve Harrison and Dr Graham Hawkes will be presenting papers at Australasian Oil and Gas exibition and conference.

Operations and Maintenance Session, 9am Thursday 20 February
Asset integrity management and corrosion assessment

Dr Steve Harrison will be presenting a paper on asset integrity management and corrosion assessment, including how:

  • New technologies and approaches are now being used to better inform asset management.
  • Systems can be tailored for specific applications and data can be shared between assets to maximise efficiency.
  • Integrating simulation and NDT leads to maintenance/repair time and cost savings.

Operations and Maintenance Session, 2pm Thursday 20 February
Use of simulation to complement the inspection and maintenance of gas turbine exhaust duct systems

Presented by Dr Graham Hawkes, key learning points will include:

  • Gas turbine exhausts are complex and often bespoke systems which can be susceptible to both low and high cycle fatigue failure.
  • Coupled fluid-structural analysis has the power to help understand the root causes of fatigue failure and advise on how designs may be modified to avoid future failures.
  • Combing analytical results with in-service measurements can focus inspection and maintenance activities on areas of highest risk to improve safety and reduce costs.
