Job Description

This recruitment is for a position of Systems Engineer – Innovation located in Canberra.

With between 1 and 10 years of experience, you will form a core part of the Frazer-Nash delivery team providing consultancy services to clients across a number of skill disciplines, either individually or as part of a project team.

We are looking for engineers to help further our technical innovation roles working for clients such as Defence and significant rail, infrastructure and power generation projects. These are high profile projects which align perfectly with our technical knowledge, commercial awareness and project delivery experience. Through these projects you will be engaged with leading edge technologies and novel applications pushing the boundaries of the possible while ensuring delivery and value for money. Your long-term career with Frazer-Nash will be supported by our Group Leaders and Technical Managers to ensure that you are able to grow and develop both your technical and consultancy skills.

Ideally, candidates for this role will possess graduate qualifications in engineering or technical discipline, but a sound understanding of engineering principles and project delivery are equally important.

The position offered will be based on your skills and experience.

Fundamentally, you will have a passion for delivering high quality work, on time and on budget; helping our clients define their needs and achieve their goals. 

Requirements

The candidate will be degree qualified in engineering or technical discipline, with experience in Defence procurement and project delivery. They will have an interest in cutting edge technology and desire to help shape the latest innovations available to Defence.

The successful candidate will meet the following essential requirements:

  • Possess a 4-year Bachelor Degree in engineering and is capable of becoming a member of the associated professional body.
  • Experience in project management and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of operating in a Defence environment, either directly or for a supplier.
  • Resides or willing to reside in Canberra. Travel interstate travel may be required at times.
  • Ability to translate system engineering practices from one industry to another.  For example, from Defence to Mining.

It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements:

  • Knowledge of any or all of the following areas (ISREW, marine, land defences, aircraft and combat equipment)
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of systems engineering in an industrial domain.
  • Knowledge of Defence procurement.
  • Knowledge and experience of Defence environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Previous experience in a Consulting environment.
  • Is an Australian citizen and capable of obtaining an Australian Security Clearance of Negative Vetting - Level 1 (NV1).
